Annual All-Media Show Draws Artists and Art Lovers to Northville

Northville, MI, August 9, 2023 – The Northville Art House announces the 15th Annual West of Center: All-Media Exhibition to be presented August 29 – September 23 at the Northville Art House, 215. W. Cady St. The exhibition presents over 50 traditional and contemporary artworks created by 43 talented artists from the Midwest using various styles, materials, and techniques. A public Live at Five event will be held on Friday, September 8, 5 – 8 pm and features a gallery presentation at 6:15 pm by exhibition juror Darcel Deneau and live alternative and pop music by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Mike Stefaniak. Tickets are $5 at the door and include light fare with a cash bar.

West of Center is an annual celebration of artistic diversity that encourages artists to experiment and push the boundaries of their craft. Visitors can expect to encounter photographs that capture human expression and ingenuity, sculptures that transform found objects into new, one-of-kind pieces, collages arranged and assembled from different and sometimes unlikely materials, and painting compositions that blur the lines between reality and imagination. This diverse collection of work was selected by former member of the Northville Arts Commission and widely collected mosaic artist Darcel Deneau who, among many accolades, received the prestigious Kresge Arts in Detroit Fellowship in 2021.

Deneau recalls, “In 2005, I was lucky enough to be a part of the Northville Arts Commission when the City of Northville gave the commission their very first home – the Northville Art House. West of Center was conceived as a show to draw artists and art lovers to the west side of town for this new art gallery. It has been a delight to watch the organization grow and prosper over the years. West of Center has become an annual event and judging from the quality and volume of the work submitted this year, it is obvious that the show has caught the attention of some of the most talented artists in the area. I am honored to be the juror of this show.”
