In honor of National Parents’ Day, which is celebrated the fourth Sunday each July, we welcome Mrs. Cheryl L. Pope. In 2005 Cheryl took a selfless leap into the nonprofit sector when she founded Outfits for Angels, a clothing donation charity that aims to provide clothing for needy children in the metro Detroit area. She is an active volunteer with Wise Steward Ministries, a financial literacy program for youth ages nine through eighteen.

Awakening…The Artist Inside Announces Exciting 2008 Summer Art Camp “Creative Creatures,” for Children Ages 3 to 15, will Explore Exotic Creatures and their Habitats from Around the World. And, Back by Popular Demand -- “Anime” Japanese Cartooning Camp
Awakening … The Artist Inside, art education and art supply store, brings another fun-filled summer art camp program to children ages three to fifteen.  During the months of June through August, Awakening is offering a variety of art camps where students will learn how to capture “Creative Creatures” on paper, canvas and in clay using a variety of mediums.  From the icy waters of the arctic to the dry desert sands of the Gobi and Sahara Deserts, students will enjoy exploring remote locations to discover its unique and little known inhabitants.  In addition to “Creative Creatures”, the summer art camp program also includes the ever popular Anime drawing class.
“Our art education director and store manager, Katra Stubblefield, has outdone herself again with this year’s summer program,” said Awakening … The Artist Inside owner, Sherri Mewha.  “She has developed a program that integrates a variety of mediums, like paint, pastels, colored pencils, clay, and water colors with subject matter that children are going to love,” the result, no doubt, will be stunning.”
Because of its great success with students of all ages, Awakening is also bringing back the Anime summer art camp for the third year in a row.  Anime is a Japanese cartooning technique characterized by highly stylized, colorful, cartoon-like characters.  Students will create their own figures in action poses using the same fine line pens favored by cartoonist, fashion designers, illustrators, animators and artists worldwide.
Each 4-day camp program runs from Tuesday through Friday; camps begin the week of June 24th, with the final camp scheduled for the week of August 12th.  Camp admission fee includes all art supplies and a peanut free snack.  To register, call 248.347.0807. Most major credit cards accepted.  Space is limited so register early to ensure an artistic, fun-filled week for your child or early teen.
Located at 133 W. Main St. in the Northville Square, Awakening…The Artist Inside is the area’s only full line art supply retailer, featuring fine art materials for student and professional artists.  Art education classes for adult and children are taught by local art professors and professional artists who teach art fundamentals while encouraging individual creative expression.  Summer camps, programs for home-schooled children, and private art lessons for adults and children are also available.
Call Awakening at 248-347-0807, email us at awakeningartists@sbcglobal.net, or visit online at www.AwakeningTheArtistInside.com for more information about workshops and classes.
