Three types of lighting will be presented to the Design Committee.
City Council members are invited to join the Design Committee at Town
Square. The installed lighting will include: Tivoli or rope
lighting that will be hung in Town Square, architectural lighting which
will “up light” historic buildings and an existing DDA streetlight will
be retrofitted with an LED light source. The Tivoli lighting is
the only lighting proposed as part of the Town Square project, the other
lighting solutions are being explored for use in future streetscape
projects.

A 10’ x 10’ area will be installed in the bandshell area, which will
illustrate the paving materials and decorative pattern proposed.
The HDC has been invited to view the installed paving at 6:00pm on April
18th prior to their regularly scheduled meeting.

A possibility of a new town square in 2007 took a
leap forward toward reality at the City Council meeting on Monday night,
February 5th. City Council approved the overall Conceptual Design
for the downtown and the contract for design services with Grissim Metz
Andriese Associates. Authorized to proceed, the DDA will now begin
in earnest the redesign of the town square. Included in the new
space will a new bandshell, large shade trees in raised planter beds,
clay pavered open area and fountain. Look for an update in 4 weeks.

improvements. Community feedback is not only welcome, but will be
